Jubilee of Volunteerism
The Jubilee of Volunteerism represents an important occasion in the context of the Jubilee of Mercy, proclaimed by Pope Francis in 2015. This special event is dedicated to all those who dedicate themselves to volunteer service, offering their time, energy, and resources to help those in need.
During the Jubilee of Volunteerism, a series of initiatives are organized to celebrate the contribution of volunteers to building a more just and compassionate society. This includes testimony meetings, prayer moments for volunteers, and volunteer projects in local communities and in emergency and crisis contexts.
This event is also an opportunity to reflect on the profound meaning of volunteerism as an expression of love and solidarity towards others. The value of self-giving and sharing one’s resources to alleviate the suffering of others and to promote the common good is recognized.
The Jubilee of Volunteerism testifies to the Church’s commitment to promoting a culture of solidarity and service to others. Through this event, the Church invites all volunteers to continue in their commitment, bearing witness with their lives to the values of love, compassion, and mercy.
