Jubilee of Migrants
The Jubilee of Migrants is an important occasion in the context of the Jubilee of Mercy, proclaimed by Pope Francis in 2015. This special event is dedicated to migrants, refugees, and people on the move, offering them a moment of welcome, reflection, and solidarity.
During the Jubilee of Migrants, a series of initiatives are organized to raise awareness about the challenges and needs of migrants, promote a culture of hospitality and inclusion, and foster intercultural and interreligious dialogue. This includes prayer meetings, testimonial moments, volunteer projects, and initiatives to promote the human rights of migrants.
This event provides migrants with the opportunity to feel welcomed and valued in their dignity as individuals, despite the difficulties and discriminations they may face in their migratory journey. It is a moment of sharing and solidarity, during which bridges of understanding and mutual support are built between different communities.
The Jubilee of Migrants is also an opportunity to reflect on the root causes of migration, the injustices and inequalities that drive people to leave their homelands in search of a better future. It is a moment of commitment to promote more humane and solidarity-based migration policies, respecting the fundamental rights of all people on the move.
This event testifies to the Church’s commitment to defending the rights of migrants and promoting a culture of hospitality and solidarity. Through the Jubilee of Migrants, the Church invites everyone to recognize the dignity and value of every person, regardless of their origin or social status.
