Jubilee of Persons with Disabilities
The Jubilee of Persons with Disabilities is an event of profound importance in the context of the Jubilee of Mercy, proclaimed by Pope Francis in 2015. This special celebration is dedicated to persons with disabilities, offering them a unique opportunity to be protagonists in the life of the Church and society.
During the Jubilee of Persons with Disabilities, a series of initiatives are organized to promote the inclusion and active participation of persons with disabilities in the ecclesial community. This includes prayer gatherings, training sessions on disability pastoral care, as well as recreational and cultural activities accessible to all.
This event offers persons with disabilities the opportunity to feel accepted, valued, and loved in their diversity. It is a time of joy and celebration, during which the intrinsic dignity of every person is celebrated, and their unique contribution to the life of the Church and society is recognized.
The Jubilee of Persons with Disabilities is also an opportunity to reflect on the challenges and discriminations faced by persons with disabilities in daily life. It is a time for awareness and commitment to promote a culture of acceptance and solidarity that respects and values the diversity of each individual.
This event testifies to the Church’s commitment to defending the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities, recognizing their full belonging to the family of God. Through the Jubilee of Persons with Disabilities, the Church invites everyone to recognize and value the precious gift of diversity and to work together to build a more inclusive and compassionate society.
