Jubilee of the Deacons

The Jubilee of the Deacons is a moment of great significance within the context of the Jubilee of Mercy, proclaimed by Pope Francis in 2015. This special event is dedicated to deacons, those who are called to serve the Church through the diaconal ministry.

During the Jubilee of the Deacons, deacons from around the world come together to celebrate their vocation and commitment to serving the ecclesial community. Prayer meetings, training sessions, and sharing experiences are organized, as well as special liturgical celebrations presided over by bishops and cardinals.

This event offers deacons the opportunity to renew their commitment to the evangelical service and to deepen their understanding of the diaconal mission in the Church and in society. It is a moment of gratitude and recognition for their valuable contribution to the life of the community and the promotion of social justice and solidarity.

The Jubilee of the Deacons is also an occasion to reflect on the role of deacons in the Church and in the contemporary world. Deacons are called to be witnesses of the Gospel through their humble and generous service, inspiring others to follow Christ’s example in serving the most needy.

This event testifies to the Church’s commitment to support and value the ministry of deacons, recognizing their importance in promoting the Church’s evangelizing mission and in witnessing God’s merciful love in everyday life. Through the Jubilee of the Deacons, the Church invites all the faithful to recognize and celebrate the precious gift of deacons in the life of the ecclesial community.
